HELLO! I’M HEIDI,
I enjoy creating scenes that transport the viewer to a world where the boundaries of reality fade and the impossible becomes possible.
From whimsical characters embarking on adventures to mythical creatures dwelling in enchanting forests and imaginative cottages in fairytale landscapes, each piece serves as an invitation to see life through the eyes of a child and to experience a sense of wonder. It's a gentle reminder that magic is all around us.
HOW IT BEGAN
Although I used to paint and draw mainly realistically, I now felt an urge to take a new direction. A desire arose in me to tell a story and to give shape to an imagination that had been dormant until then. Inspired by the wonderful worlds of illustrators that I really looked up to, I took my first steps on my new creative journey. I started experimenting with different mediums and styles until I found my own voice.
One thing led to another and in the summer of 2023, I participated in my first art market which got me hooked at once! Along with a small assortment of greeting cards, Heidi in Heartland was born, and what started small is gradually expanding into a wider range of products.
INSPIRATION
There are so many treasures to be found in nature and it’s wildlife, from magnificent colours to intricate textures and shapes. I think nature is not only a spectacular piece of art but also a place where your slow down and experience it’s simplicity and magic. Something that I love to capture in my illustrations in combination with my imagination.
Colours are a great source of inspiration to me and are therefore an indispensable part of my work. With acrylic paint, my favourite medium, I strive to create both atmosphere and dynamics through an interplay of deep, rich colours, bringing the story in my work to life.
Besides that, everyday events, a sentence or quote, a song or image can spark my imagination and form the basis for a new painting.
Painting is both my passion and my therapy, it is a way to give shape to my inner life, providing me with a deep sense of fulfillment and peace. I am immensily grateful to share that passion and inspiration with you!
